Hi, I’m Susan Powell (she/her)

BA (Soc.Wk), MAASW AMHSW — Founder & Lead Clinician

Nearly 20 Years of Clinical Wisdom I have been working in the mental health and human services field since 2007. While I completed my formal Bachelor’s degree in 2014, those foundational years were spent "in the trenches" of trauma-informed care. This journey has provided me with 19 years of practical experience, allowing me to found NeuroHaven Therapies—a space where high-level neuroscience meets deep, lived compassion.

My practice is grounded in the belief that true healing occurs when we stop trying to "fix" the brain and instead learn to integrate the mind, body, and nervous system. As an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, I specialise in supporting individuals and families navigating ADHD, Autism (ASD), and Trauma—including Developmental Trauma, PTSD, and Complex PTSD (C-PTSD).

The Science of Safety I deliver Focused Psychological Strategies (FPS) that prioritize "bottom-up" healing. My approach leads with the integration of Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB) to map the mind-body connection. I then incorporate Polyvagal-informed care to anchor the nervous system in a state of safety, and utilize Brainspotting to access and process deep-seated trauma that traditional cognitive therapy often cannot reach.

You Aren’t Broken Navigating neurodivergence while carrying the weight of trauma can feel like a constant battle with your own nervous system. You aren’t broken; you are likely stuck in survival mode. I provide a safe, science-backed space to help you trade the exhaustion of masking for a sense of calm and belonging. I would be honoured to support your journey from survival to safety.
