Play Therapy for Neurodivergence & Childhood Trauma

For children, play is not just a way to pass the time; it is their first language. When a child experiences trauma—whether from a single scary event, medical procedures, or early relational wounds—or when they are a neurodivergent child (ADHD/Autistic) navigating a world not built for them, their nervous system often gets stuck in survival mode.

This profound overwhelm frequently shows up as "challenging behaviors," explosive meltdowns, deep anxiety, or withdrawal. At NeuroHaven Therapies, we look beneath the behavior. We do not use compliance-based training or try to force a traumatised or neurodivergent child to just "behave." Instead, we offer a deeply safe, child-led sanctuary where they can process their big feelings and regulate their nervous system using the language they know best: play.
